le table

The table. Oh, the table. Two coats of primer. Four coats of paint. That dark, dark finish just didn’t want to be covered. But in the end, I won. Martha Stewart’s Pure White prevailed. Martha always prevails. She’s an ex-con.

I hit the wall (literally and figuratively) on Thursday morning. Seriously, there are sloped ceilings in there, and I’ve cracked my head several times now. Hard. Anyhoo, I was so sick of painting. But I was determined to finish that stupid table.

So I did. I pushed through and finished the table. And even managed to finish the matching chair by Saturday morning. I still have a dresser coming which will need to be painted. And the trim and doors have to be done. Oh, and I’ve got a few little things to do to make the place extra sweet… bloody hell. But then the Craft Room will be complete. You’ll just have to wait to see it.

  1. Did you just paint? No sanding? I am looking for pieces on CraigsList.com for my craftroom and would love to do this!

    • Also, if you could tell me what primer and type of paint (semigloss, laytex, flat, etc.) I would appreciate it! I’m anxious to hear back from you :) ))

  2. I just used Zinsser 1-2-3 Bulls Eye to prime. Two coats. Sanding is usually recommended, but this table was free, and the layers of gook on it would have been very difficult to sand off. I think I used Benjamin Moore’s Aura Satin Waterborne Interior Paint to paint it – four coats. It is a pearl finish. You can always talk to someone at your local paint store for advice – there are lots of great products out there. Also, if you go the route I did, you’ll have to be very careful with the table for at least a couple of weeks. You really want the paint to cure, or you’ll get chips. No crafting on it for two weeks!
