Winner, Group 1: Sydney’s Maritime Shout-Out Lighthouse with 49.67% of the vote.
Winner, Group 2: Becca and Emma’s Wintery Ginger Mansion with 77.04% of the vote.
These two hardcore contenders will meet in the final round of voting on Thursday, December 22, 2011. Congrats, ladies!
Thanks to the other competitors for an amazing show of talent. I hope you’ll all enter again next year…

I was tempted to enter but ran out of time…now I see that I’m not ready to compete with the likes of all of these geniuses (even with the help of the pattern, which I received in the mail from my Nissan dealer, for constructing a gingerbread car!). Maybe next year…
Congratulations to the winners. Some people may be saying that you are Ringers (professional bakers brought in to trounce the competition). But I disagree. I think you are just ordinary citizens who just happen to know how to make the most beautiful confectionery architecture with one hand tied behind your backs!
Sam and I have vowed to make one gingerbread house per week for the next 51 weeks in order to learn how to make an actual Taj Mahal of Gingers!
