I’m all for the changes Facebook is making. First off, and I’m talking to you bloggers, no one gives a shit about your reach. LITERALLY NO ONE. Second, I really like my newsfeed with the changes Facebook has been making. Kitten content has increased by 67%!

Know what? I love the crappy little community we’ve built together. I’ve come to think of you as my relentless stalkers annoying relatives dear friends. And I was sad when a few of you emailed back in December to tell me that you missed most of my Ginger 2017 updates on Facebook. I guess it has something to do with alligator rhythms?

I’m hoping to post more often on this ol’ blog because it won’t ever be affected by changes to algorithms or whatever the hell people keep telling me I should be worried about. Apparently this space is my ‘real estate’ and I should be treating it like the precious flower it is.

That said, I’ve learned that most of you don’t comment and interact in this space — that you prefer Facebook. Like, you come here, read the post and then go back to Facebook to leave a comment. This might be because sometimes my blog acts all weird and I don’t know how to fix it. (Do you think the internet will eventually ask me to leave?) SO! I’ve created a little Facebook group for us! Members only (because it sounds dirty), pants optional. Let’s face it, I’m not overly concerned about reaching a bunch of strangers who don’t even care about the ridiculous things 2.0’s been getting up to this week. So why fret about the reach of a public page?

This week, I read through every comment left on my blog in 2015. There were a lot. (Amazing given that I abandoned this space for about six months to live like a cave goblin.) So many of you made me snort, chortle and laugh this year! After some careful consideration, I have chosen Stephbo, aka Stephanie, as my 2015 Commenter of the Year. Mostly because it’s fun to announce a winner when nobody even knew they were competing.

Stephanie likes to leave comments like:

Comments left by readers make my blog more awesome. (And funnier!) I know how busy you all are with suing people and duct tape art, so I really appreciate the time so many of you take to leave witty remarks and kind words. I knew 2.0 was the guy for me the very first time we met. And when, on our second date, I drooled on my pants and he didn’t bat an eye, I was quite sure he liked me too. But I knew he loved me when he didn’t break up with me after I sleep farted on his thigh.

Truth: you can’t hold your gaz de l’air doux* in forever. Four months of politeness? Good grief. That just makes it aggressive, and you’ve gotta sleep sometime. Sleeping whilst cradled in the arms of the man you love? Perfect storm. In that relaxed state, it’s like releasing the Kraken. All of ’em. At the same time.

There will be confusion. (What was that? Is someone in the apartment? That was YOU? MY LEG! MY GOD, MY LEG!) But also, acceptance.

Happy Valentine’s Day, 2.0. I love you with all my butt.

Which posts on movitabeaucoup.com do you enjoy the most?

This was a tough question, so some of you simply checked EVERY option, and the rest of you left comments to complain that it was too hard to choose, life isn’t fair, and yadda, yadda, yadda. It’s nice to know that you are as indecisive as I am.

As suspected, most of you like hearing my dumb stories more than anything else. This pleases me to no end. Also, a number of you mentioned that you think hanging out here is way fun, and that this is due in part to the exchanges we have in the comments section. I second that emotion.

A large number of you said that you miss seeing recipes (especially cakes) on my blog, but then felt the need to tell me that you’ve never actually tried any of them and, in all likelihood, won’t. What the? I love you crazy kids!

I’m thinking about starting an advice column. Yay or nay?

Obviously, this is going to happen.

More about where I live. I don’t blame you – Nova Scotia is awesome! Those of you who requested this information were quick to say that you don’t want it for “stalking purposes,” which makes me think that you do, indeed, want it for stalking purposes.

An advice column. A startling number of you actually yell-typed your request for this, with subtle threats about how I’d better start this feature or else. Ask and ye shall receive.

A continuation of your favourite series: Family Snapshots, The Roommate, Crap I’ve Been Meaning to Tell You About, and re-tellings of famous ballets. Turns out you like learning about dance history. At least, the way I tell it.

What you won’t see on this here blog:

Gluten-free, paleo, low carb, and anything with skinny, low-fat, and/or lightened-up in the recipe title. Dudebros, I ain’t ridin’ those waves. Posts along those lines would be inauthentic. (2.0 doesn’t even know gluten is, but he’s quite sure he likes it.) Plus, there many, many blogs already doing that stuff and doing it very well. Visit those talented people, and then come back here for stuff that’ll kill you.

Epic stories combined with recipes. Friends, it’s really hard to find a recipe pairing for a story about flatulence. So, for the most part, recipes and tall tales will be kept separate.

Photos of 2.0 and I. Surprisingly, a number of you told me that you like to imagine all sorts of things about us {shudder}, and actually appreciate that I’ve left many things (including our appearance) to your imagination. This is deliberate, and won’t change. Like characters in a good book, I want to leave some things to your creepy nighttime fantasies. (But for those of you who asked, yes, 2.0 is very handsome.) (Ew. Are you fantasizing about him? Stop it. STOP IT RIGHT NOW.)

My feelings on politics and the news – most of which has been horrifying lately. I like to think that my blog and social media channels are happy places in which we can forget those things (and our troubles) for a spell. Let’s keep it that way.

Another competition, with a focus on dodgy and/or amateur skills. I’m thinking on this, as I want it to be something fun. Bake My Cake kinda fizzled out, so a springtime replacement might be nice. I won’t be adding multiple competitions (as some of you requested), because prizes come outta my pocket and guys? I ain’t Liliane Bettencourt.

Lastly, I can’t believe how many of you made requests for a book. I’m terribly flattered. But also, not that talented. So I’m thinking I might just staple something together and mail it to you.

I’m going to be upfront with you: this isn’t a real post. I’m gunna ask you to do something for me, but I’ll sugarcoat it by telling you that I’m in the middle of testing an amazing bread recipe for you. Seriously. It’s really, really good. Given that I went back to school to become a BREAD BAKER, it’s weird that I haven’t shared any recipes with you. New to baking bread? Afraid of yeast? Don’t worry, little one. I’ll teach you the tricks of the trade.
