stuff

It has been one of those weeks. Ups and downs and everything in between. So, rather than sharing a recipe with you, I’ll catch you up on all things movita. I think it will bring us closer together. And I sincerely hope that idea makes you uncomfortable.

Last Thursday, the Beaucoup clan said goodbye to a good friend. Lucy Dog has been a constant companion for Bill and Rosie Beaucoup. She was a darling, darling creature. And when 2.0 and I went to visit The Beaucoups on Sunday, I sure did miss the sound of that tail whacking everything in its path. Now, I don’t want you to be sad. Because Lucy Dog probably wouldn’t have wanted that either, so I’ll tell you about some happier stuff.

Last weekend, my production of Cinderella came and went. It was a tremendous success. We performed in a relatively new theatre (2007), and had the honour of being the first show ever to sell out in advance of a performance there. Little girls were dancing in their party dresses in the aisles. We sold out of tiaras in record time. It was pretty great.

Also, that photo up there? I took it WITH MY NEW IPHONE. Yah. It’s hard to know where to go from here. I mean, I’ve got nothing to talk about anymore. Just kidding! I’ve got a new obsession: Bakery Story. This is thanks to Katherine over at Eggton. She and her husband are, like, mega Bakery Story obsessed. I guess Katherine has screwed up Scott’s bakery a couple of times, and he seems… not over it yet. I know this because they both emailed me to tell me about it. Anyhoo, Katherine sent me an extensive essay on the proper playing of Bakery Story. Like, two pages of tips via email. And now I’m hooked.

See niles down there? He’s been waking us up at 5 am every morning. That’s another reason I’m not posting a recipe this week. I’m too tired. For a small cat, niles can be terribly loud. He stands in the en suite bathroom and meows as loudly as he can. Then he walks across our faces to play with the bedside lamps. Then he attacks effie. Then he returns to the bathroom for more meowing. Ooops! Now he’s shut the bathroom door. He’s stuck. More meowing. So, every morning this week we’ve been dragging ourselves out of bed at 5:30 am, cursing, to give the kitties breakfast. Then the kitties go to sleep, while 2.0 and I get on with the day (nauseated).

Do you have a favourite app? I’m looking to fill up my iPhone with a bunch of crap that people like you tell me about. Seriously. I have no standards. Oh, and I’ll be back tomorrow to tell you all about a new movita competition. You could win a prize! (But, as always, I’ll make you work for it…)

Aww, I’m sorry for the loss of Lucy, and you’re right, she wouldn’t have wanted us to be sad. Sending you air hugs, and Niles is just adorable! Too bad about the waking you up at 5AM part. I too feel nauseous if I don’t get enough sleep. Hope you have a lovely day =]

Oh waaaaaa… I have a post from January. It was in honor of our golden retriever Henry. Unconditional love we can be forever grateful to have shared with our four legged buddies. It is so sad to say good bye. Be kind to yourself this week. wt

oooohhhhh sooo sad :(, so I thought I would cheer you up with iPhone photo apps. Cause I am a freak for apps. I blog about em, and I make all my friends download them. Otherwise…I tell em…talk to the hand, the face ain’t listening.
    Here they are :
Cartoonatic, Hipstamatic, and True HDR. Best best apps EVHHHhhaa.
Hope that cheers you up xx

I told your mom that I am so sorry about Lucy. She looks like such a sweet creature in the picture of her.

The rest of this post makes me feel famous, which is really nice, because the Academy Awards make me feel decidedly UN-famous on all levels.

After reading what you wrote (and laughing), Scott NOW TELLS ME that the email I sent you reminds him of the long, unsolicited advice-filled emails that my mom sends me on a weekly basis.

GREAT. Now I am both un-famous AND turning into my mother.

Also, I AM SO EXCITED ABOUT THIS COMPETITION.

    WHAT IS IT?!?!?

Should I block out the month of March or April for it? Do I need to get a glue gun?

GAH. I’ll just send all my questions in an email later.

    Kidding. I’m kidding.

    • movita beaucoup on March 1, 2012 at 8:42 pm

You should block March AND April. It’s gunna be major. You’ll need to get Scott organized too. Let’s send him a long email…

Awwwww Lucy looks like a darling and I’m sure she’s been a joy to have. Much love to you and The Beaucoups. I have a lab mix who can throw you off-balance with her tail wags too!

Don’t you feel like a new person with the iPhone? When I got my new phone, I went bonkers downloading as many apps as I could – mostly games. I was addicted to Fruit Ninja, Flight Control, Diner Dash and Bejeweled. I was inseparable with my phone, even in the loo 😀

About Niles, can’t you pre-serve his food so he doesn’t wake you up for breakfast?

  7. Bonnie on March 1, 2012 at 10:52 am

So sorry for the loss of Lucy, she was a beauty! Niles on the other hand, while adorable in his own right, is just doing his job, being naughty at an unnecessary hour – my Max did the same exact thing and I could swear he would derive a certain amount of joy in making me get up to open the door.

You are an Instagram professional, so proud! You may not even need those fancy little extra lenses! Gorgeous shot, Cinderella must have been magical.

Thanks for keeping us up to date, always a treat to read a post from you!

  8. Kristina on March 1, 2012 at 10:56 am

somewhere Lucy and her tail are wagging free! <3

congrats on a great show and first time preshow sell out! great job, sounds like it was fun!

What a lovely wee getting to know you post, sorry about lucy and Stop training that cat to wake you up by feeding it. Johns cat used to do that, with the screeching. For some time i got up and threw him out the door when he did it. Now he just stares, quietly and if that does not work he begins to purr Loudly and stares closer. he has such a LOUD purr. he is an old messy dirty rug of a cat and he looks at me like.. well you can’t yell at me for purring can you! c

    • movita beaucoup on March 1, 2012 at 8:37 pm

In fairness to niles, I must say, it’s not the food he wants. It’s the playing. He’s a kitten at heart. We leave food out for them all day/night. In the mornings all three kitties split a little tin of Fancy Feast. But niles would turf his breakfast in favour of play. The plan for tonight: play with home until he’s completely exhausted. Take that, kitten!

(Oh, and niles has the loudest purr I’ve ever heard. Insane.)

Opening your post this morning I thought I’d made a mistake and opened my photo album instead. Backed out, reopened, and sure enough it was Lucy dog looking everso much like our Luke – down to the same posture and expression.
(We won’t have him terribly much longer and quite honestly it scares me to death, the vacuum in his place. All a reminder to live and love each day!)
As for that naughty Niles! Here’s the rub – he does every little annoying thing he can imagine to do, knowing the more annoying the more certain the rewarding breakfast. Not suggesting there’s a simple remedy, but leaving plenty of food out at night if that’s possible might help??
As for your competition, I’m beginning training this morning!
Missed you Movita and glad you’re back! Xo

    • movita beaucoup on March 1, 2012 at 8:46 pm

niles has access to food all day. ALL DAY. But he goes through these phases where he really, really wants to play. At 5 am. Then he settles down for a few months and all is quiet. Tonight, we play. We will play and play and play. Wear him out so he’s too tuckered out to wake us up at 5 am. Fingers crossed… I bet Luke doesn’t pull stunts like that…

I’m glad you’ve started training. You’re going to need to be in tip top shape to win this competition!

      xox

Ps…do you have “Hipstamatic”? Great photo app!

    • movita beaucoup on March 1, 2012 at 8:47 pm

I just downloaded it today! And took pictures of niles. Because he was tired from getting up at 5 am.

  12. frugalfeeding on March 1, 2012 at 11:15 am

that’s quite alright, we all have such weeks occasionally. Like Cecilia, I think it’s great to get to know you a little more. I’m rather enamoured with the dog 🙂

  13. emmalina73 on March 1, 2012 at 12:24 pm

May I suggest some kind of kitty eject-a-seat/window flap contraption so that instead of getting up at 5am you can simply press a button, enjoy a brief moment of laughter as the “MEEEEeeoooooowwwww…..” sound gets further and further away and then return to the land of nod.

I’m not saying I’ve done this or anything and I in no way have detailed blueprints. Nope. No way. Nopers.

Let me know if you need blueprints ; )

    • movita beaucoup on March 3, 2012 at 6:47 am

niles has let us sleep in until 6:30 for two days now! So, we don’t need the blueprints.

      (Yet.)

    Words With Friends.

    Get the app.

    It’s like Scrabble on crack.

    • movita beaucoup on March 1, 2012 at 8:34 pm

That’s the second app I downloaded! I love, love, love Words With Friends!

  15. Elena on March 1, 2012 at 3:26 pm

🙁 This makes me so sad. I recently put my dog to sleep because of old age. I miss my Fudge! 🙁

    Sorry for your loss.

  16. emma on March 1, 2012 at 4:25 pm

I don’t even really know what apps are, but the one I do know about is probably the only one necessary to live a successful and happy life. That’s right, I’m talking about the ‘Horse Lovers Camera’ app.

Wouldn’t the tutu photo be so much more with a gorgeous roan galloping into the foreground? Uhhh, yeah.

  17. Mind Over Batter on March 1, 2012 at 5:37 pm

I’m sorry about your Lucy, that’s such a darling photo of her. Makes me want to smoosh her face to mine and play nosies with her. Um… Weird? Niles, who although cute as hell, scares me a bit. Is he going to attack and meow me to death?

Congrats on the great show and selling out those tiaras! I happen to think everyone should wear tiaras. You know, to go to the supermarket and stuffs.

  18. Melissa@EyesBigger on March 1, 2012 at 7:59 pm

i’m totally addicted to Bakery Story, and Fashion Story. I can’t believe I’m even admitting this in public. But there you have it.

    • movita beaucoup on March 1, 2012 at 8:33 pm

Someone just told me there’s also a Restaurant Story. I’m going to be out of control…

  19. lorrielorrieb on March 2, 2012 at 1:27 pm

I was at a Deep Purple concert on the weekend and someone had a “lighter” app. Apparently you aren’t allowed to have real ones at concerts anymore!!

  20. Kim Bee on March 3, 2012 at 1:16 am

I am so sorry about your dear dog. We lost our 14 year old dog to a stroke last spring. They are such wonderful companions. So sorry for your loss.xx

Congrats on a great show. And iphone, nice. I have an android but I haven’t used one app yet. No clue why. I suppose I should start. I’ve had the phone for two years or something. lol

  21. movita beaucoup on March 3, 2012 at 6:48 am

Thanks all, for your kind words. I’m sure Bill and Rosie Beaucoup are feelin’ the love too…
