I’d suggest you ask Rosie about the possibility that everyone had matching gingham dresses. In my experience, the pathological need by mothers (or grandmothers) that sew to create matching outfits when in possession of gingham was rampant in those years. Possession in both the spiritual and physical sense being the operative word here.
