crap no. 16
Note: I used thesaurus.com to make this post more eloquent (ardent, stirring, fervid).
Dear Acquaintances,
I hope my blog has been a jubilant space for you to visit over the years. I also hope that it has been a place where you can come to forget about a crappy day, forget about crapping your pants, or take your mind off some other crap that’s troubling you. If I can continue to do that as I return to blogging this fall, I’ll be really mirthful.
I know a gargantuan number of you have come here for recipes. But to be forthright, recipe development isn’t of great interest to me. There is no insufficiency of recipes online, and there never will be. Search for a chocolate cake recipe and Google will come back with 26,300,000 results in 0.31 seconds. I think that’s ample.
I’ve had a genuine concern about switching trajectories on my blog as I didn’t want you to cry and stuff. But then I remembered that you could just grow a set of lady parts and get over it. So, for the most part, recipes will not be featured on my blog in the hereafter. That doesn’t mean there won’t be the occasional buttercream shoutout or cake decorating tutelage! I’d just like to limit it to stuff I’m really ebullient about – and hasn’t been done 26 million times.
Come September 1st, I hope to develop this space into something a little different (incommensurable, if you will). You might like it, or you might decide that it’s not your cup of tea. For those of you who choose to stick around, I hope we’ll share a lot of laughs, and that you’ll find my blog to be a more veracious reflection of my short attention span and varied interests.
For those of you who decide to move on, know that it will not in any way diminish the joy you have brought to my blog in the past. Thanks for making my online life so much fun!
See you soon!

Guuuuurl, I’ll be here waiting for you with bells on. I’d wait for you for forever and day. I just love you like that annnnnnnnd I don’t care what you write about. You could write about girdles, frogs, tractor parts and shenanigans and I’d still read you. I just love you like that. 🙂

I love you right back! (I just body slammed you BlogStyle.) Thanks for (always) cheering me on!
I am DEFINITELY sticking around. I found you through reading your comments on Eggton, and while your recipes have always looked wonderful, it was your humor that I came for. Seriously loved your ballet stories, and those were certainly incommensurable (did I use it right? :D).
Erika, your use of vocabulary is aboveboard! (And there will be lots more ballet stories!)
A new post from Movita in my inbox is always an occasion for a happy dance, no matter what you choose to share. Got 1 September marked in my calendar now. There may also be Champagne chilling.
Excellent idea! I’m going to drink a whole lot STARTING NOW! (Alcohol improves writing, right?)
Like, apparently, everyone else I don’t come here for the recipes. As you say, I can get them anywhere: I’ve even been known to post a few myself. It’s the humour I come for so let me finish by saying: https://youtu.be/GbKE0gJETA0
Best use of YouTube in a comment EVER.
Can’t wait to watch your attention span bounce off the walls of my computer screen! xo
As much as I enjoy the whimsy of your cakes, I am also here for the wonderful writing so if shifting trajectories means you pop up in my reader more often, then I’m all for it!
I’ve missed you! My inbox will be enriched again. Can’t wait to voraciously consume, with my eyes of course, your posts about your adventures and trials and tribulations.
The food stuff was my least favorite part anyway. Bring on the Movita life stuff!!!!
It’s like we were MFEO (Made For Each Other).
I am a big fan of yours no matter what the subject matter!! Looking forward to September. xo
Thanks, Liz! You know, I’ve purged a bazillion food blogs from my Feedly, but yours is there to stay. Because even if I don’t feel like baking something, I know you will! xox
can’t. wait.
me. either.
Wow…I was just this minute thinking, Whatever happened to Movita? Maybe I should check her website? Nahh…she’s probably not back yet. Then…BOOM…I get your email!
Can’t wait to read all your latest mind~wanderings! Hurry up, will ya!!!
Can’t wait to see. 😉
I’m so excited to hear your blog will be back in action. I haven’t been much of a comment-er but I’ve read your blog faithfully for years. Thanks for being hilarious.
Gah! You’re welcome! Thanks for your kind words!
Lady parts present and correct and looking forward to seeing what’s next!
I am so excited. Don’t let the lack of exclamation point make you think otherwise. I get very serious about my excitement.
Personally, I feel a bit miffed here. I was promised crap and all I have received is a photo of somebody else’s chocolate cake, some excellent news, and a vocabulary lesson. Please advise if your Sept 1 blog post title will be more accurate. Also whether the resident of the tiny house will reappear anytime soon.
Beginning in September I will be living a very authentic life. It will include cleanses and quinoa and yoga. And my tiny Buddha will probably be helping out…
YOU are my cup of tea, with a big slab of cake on the side ta boot. Whatever you want to write is good with me.
Definitely looking forward to September and whatever you write about. Hugs.
Thanks, Bonnie! Hugs right back at cha!
I did this almost a year ago–switched from a food blog to a whatever I want it to be blog, and I have loved the freedom. I lost readers, but I think they were the superficial food blog type that I was trying to get away from, so they can suck it. I’m excited to see what you’ve got planned!
You’re just saying that because you figure I won’t write about pollinator landscape ecology.
Oh, but you should. And you could!
I thought you weren’t coming back until September, and then you just tease me with this!!! Does this mean I actually have to pay attention? (seriously, I’ve missed you and would read anything you write.) Just so you know.
No, Karen. Don’t strain your brain. I PROMISE: no posts until September 1st!! ????
Ebullience! That is all.
Looking forward to it!
I LOVE YOU!! You CRACK ME UP!! A skill not many have as I am the toughest of nuts to crack. Dude for the first time EVER I am actually considering visiting or picturesque Atlantic provinces and it’s all your fault…you’ve got me thinking people out there are outrageously cool not to mention the mouthwatering g promise od delucious sea food. And so the countdown begins…September 1st…it’s a date!!
No crying here… I mean, I love your recipe sharing days, and look forward to any food related things you choose to share in the future, don’t get me wrong, but you know that’s not why we’re here. We’re here because you write things like “crap your pants” and “grow some lady parts,” and you do it in a way no one else can — with love. You keep writing, and I’ll keep reading, that’s all I have to say.
Yeah, I’m sticking around because I love hearing about crap that goes on across the oceans!
Make sure there is some cat involvement because cuteness and crap makes for big laughs too.
I am also kinda sick of posting recipes. Not sure what I’m going to post about in future!
You do what tickles your fancy in here and I’m sure we will love it all.
Go, you good thing.
